German Maritime Centre
The German Maritime Centre, founded in 2017, is an independent and publicly funded cross-sector think tank based in Hamburg. Its members are Governmental Authorities on national and regional level, as well as the major German maritime associations.
Our strategic purpose is to increase the competitiveness and innovative capacity of the German maritime sector as a whole and to strengthen know-how and career prospects.
The core of our work is to design and implement activities in research, development and innovation. We focus on technology transfer, the implementation of research results, and the initiation of pilot projects.
We provide valuable information and analyses of market developments, technology, legal matters and maritime policy to stakeholders in the maritime industry. As a central contact point, we also seek to support the maritime industry at European and international levels.
Our mission is to foster and expand interdisciplinary exchange in Germany’s maritime industry as well as with other industries, and to involve policy-makers, researchers and the public domain in this process.
