Traficom
The Finnish Transport and Communications Agency Traficom ensures smooth, sustainable, safe and secure transport and communications connections and services, and promotes cyber security in Finland. Traficom is an authority serving people and businesses in license, registration and supervisory matters.
In maritime domain Traficom’s duties include supervising the seaworthiness and compliance of ships, issuing certificates and qualifications, authorizing and supervising designated tonnage measurers, surveyors and classification societies, as well as inspecting ships visiting Finnish ports (Port State Control). In addition, Traficom participates in the production and monitoring of radio communication services and hydrography. Traficom also has duties related to the protection of the marine environment.
