Full steam ahead of climate neutrality in maritime industry

Flexible and modular large battery systems for safe on-board integration and operation of electric power, demonstrated in multiple type of ships

Shipping is a large and growing source of greenhouse gas emissions. However, advances in clean-energy tech are throwing emissions overboard. The EU-funded FLEXSHIP project will develop a digital green solution for electrifying vessels. Specifically, the project will design flexible, modular and scalable solutions for electrifying the waterborne sector. This includes designing a green digital twin for optimising vessel electrical grid architectures, integrating a high-efficiency battery system, and creating a safe integration guide for system interoperability. The project will test the full system in two demonstrations and evaluate its exploitation potential.
